Frequently asked questions
How are prayer times calculated?+
QiblaFlow computes times from your location using a solar-position algorithm with 7 calculation methods (Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi, and more). You can choose Standard or Hanafi Asr, and at high latitudes an angle-based rule is used for Fajr and Isha.
Why are the times slightly different from my local mosque?+
Mosques often pick a specific method and apply their own congregation (jamāʿah) adjustments. Use the Mosques tab to find and follow your local mosque — when one publishes its timetable, QiblaFlow can show its exact begins and jamāʿah times instead of the calculated ones.
How is my location used?+
Your location is used only to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction for where you are. It stays on your device for that purpose and is not sold or shared. See our Privacy Policy for detail.
The Qibla compass seems off — how do I fix it?+
Compass accuracy depends on your phone's magnetometer. Move away from metal objects and magnets, then calibrate by moving the device in a figure-8 motion a few times. Granting motion & orientation permission to the app/browser is required for the live compass.
How do I manage prayer notifications?+
Notifications are scheduled on your device for each prayer. You can enable or disable them per prayer in the app's settings. If they stop arriving, check that notifications are allowed for QiblaFlow in your device's system settings.
How do I delete my account and data?+
In the app, open Settings → Delete Account to permanently remove your account and associated data. You can also email us at [email protected] and we will action the deletion for you.
